Paul Gilson – Executive Chairman and Director

Paul has more than 25 years in advanced technology industries.  A qualified engineer with a BE from University College Dublin, Paul has held senior roles in General Management, Operations, Product Development and R+D.  Paul was Director of R&D for Bard Cardiology, he is the holder of more than 30 patents for biomaterials and cardiovascular products.  He co-founded MedNova Ltd in 1996 and following the sale of MedNova to Abbott Labs in 2005 he founded and was CEO of Novate Medical Ltd and established Veryan Medical Ltd in Galway, Ireland.  He has extensive experience as a Board member and in raising Venture and Corporate capital as well as in licensing and corporate agreements.

Paul Gannon – Director and CTO

Paul is co-Founder of THETA and is also Founder and Managing Director of Gannon Chemicals.  He holds a B.Sc. in chemistry from NUIG and a Graduate Diploma in Industrial Chemistry from U.L..  He has 25 years experience in the field.  Paul holds an MBA from NUIG and runs a specialist chemical company developing bespoke cleaning solutions for commercial and industrial applications.

Chas Taylor – Non-Executive Director

Chas began his career in industrial chemistry with ICI in research developing a range of polymer compounds and process applications.  Moving to the medical industry he has spent over 20 years in various sales, marketing and general management roles.  He co-founded his first technology company in 1996 with Paul Gilson which was subsequently sold to Abbott laboratories.  More recently he has founded two other high-technology start up companies.  Chas has extensive experience as a Board Member and as a consultant to VC firms in due diligence exercises.  He has an MBA from Henley Brunel.

Neil Ferguson BE Ph.D – Director

Technology Transfer Office Director in the National University of Ireland Galway, Neil is a senior Commercialisation Executive with a wide range of experience in managing the technology development and transfer process. This includes opportunity identification; proposal development; project management (people, resources & budgets); intellectual property (IP) management and valuation leading to negotiation and commercialisation of technology and IP.  Neil has a proven ability to constructively engage with both industry and inventors, to develop technology road maps, identify and target business collaborators and manage the evaluation, negotiation and execution phases of technology transfer.
