The Applications team at THETA announce enhanced formulation TiOSOL™. Results from independent testing performed by the Bio-Research Institute at Athlone Institute of Technology show that the advanced formulation featuring unique technology maintains bacteria kill under dark conditions. This is the first commercially available coating on the market that works without light to excite the surface.
THETA published TiOSOL™ results in 2011 as a disruptive technology to the traditional chemical cleaning sector. Results were published at The European Society of Bio-Materials Conference. The product is now commercially available.
Self Clean anti-bacterial surfaces reduce significantly the frequency of cleaning required. Adoption of the nano-coating to surfaces will save on water, cleaning chemicals and cleaning maintenance costs.
TiOSOLTM films produced using THETA patented solubility technology are durable, functional coats formed by conventional coat/anneal methods and can be easily applied to common surfaces underlying their commercial use. The dual action films exhibit excellent physical properties, in areas such as transparency, adhesion, abrasion and porosity. Functional testing demonstrates the films to have superior antimicrobial activity under both light and dark conditions illustrating their scope in reducing infection transmission on surfaces of internal environments.
